Erin Miller

Erin graduated from Penn State with a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing.  She’s worked in a wide variety of Marketing positions from the marketing coordinator at a ski resort in upstate New York to Assistant Marketing Manager for Fitness Magazine in New York City.  Erin is now the Audience Development Manager for Crain’s Cleveland Business and performs a wide range of marketing activities, from managing direct mail campaigns to managing search engine marketing campaigns.

Erin joined the AMA in the Spring of 2007 and served as the Marketing Communications Director for two years before switching titles to become the new Technology Director.  Erin is in charge of the AMA website so if you have any problems or suggestions, please let her know.

REASON FOR JOINING:  My boss roped me into it actually.  He wanted me to get more involved in the community....get myself out there more.  I went to that first AMA meeting and now, I'm hooked.  I can't get enough.  There is tons of networking opportunities and always something educational at each event. 

REASON FOR VOLUNTEERING:  To me, it's fun.  It's pretty much like running a business from all angles so I'm getting a huge amount of experience too.  And there is a great group of volunteers running the chapter right now.  You can't help but want to lend your free time to this great cause!

FUN FACTS:  Erin enjoys snowboarding in the winter and hanging out on the lake in the summer.  She also enjoys traveling to different countries whenever possible.

Barb Balogh

Barb earned her Bachelor of Arts from Kent State University with a major in English and a minor is History. She started her career in desktop publishing, went to work for an advertising agency and eventually fell into marketing at a local Fortune 200 company. She has also worked for several non-profits in the Cleveland area.
 
She joined the AMA in 2000 but it wasn't until 2004 that she joined the board as Volunteers Director. She has also served as Secretary and Membership Director. She's now serving her third, and final, term as President of the Cleveland chapter (through June 30, 2010).

REASON FOR JOINING:  While working for the aforementioned large company, Barb's boss suggested joining the AMA since she didn't have a traditional marketing background or education.

REASON FOR VOLUNTEERING:  Barb wanted to gain some skills she wasn't able to in her job at the time. She also wanted more networking experience to help come out of her shell a bit.

FUN FACTS:  Barb is an avid reader, likes to play games (usually of the video or trivia nature), cook and and is a member of MENSA. She lives in Lakewood with her new husband and their furry family (2 dogs and 10 cats).

Patty DelMonico

Patty is a graduate of Kent State University, where she earned a B.S. in Journalism and Mass Communications. She is currently the Marketing Communications Specialist at Invacare Corporation, the world’s largest manufacturer and distributor of home and long-term care medical products. Patty is responsible for day-to-day marketing and advertising projects for the Home Medical Equipment division of the company. She has been in the sales and marketing field for over 10 years, in both corporate and agency settings, and joined the AMA in 2009.

REASON FOR JOINING: The marketing field is constantly evolving and changing, and belonging to a professional group like the AMA will allow me to expand my industry knowledge and stay up-to-date on current trends.

REASON FOR VOLUNTEERING:  To become more involved in the AMA and for the opportunity to meet new people.

FUN FACTS:  Patty is originally from Brunswick and lives in the house where she was raised. Her dog Pacer, named after the pace car (Patty is a NASCAR fan), is a certified therapy dog at Akron Children’s Hospital. She couldn’t be more proud of him or his trainer (her husband Chris) for their accomplishments.

Mark Johnson

Mark Johnson has a broad base of marketing communications experience in Cleveland and Chicago. Currently he is an account manager with Goldstein Group Communications, a full-service B2B marketing agency, offering services in social media, online programs, advertising, public relations, branding, and marketing strategy. In addition to serving on the board of the American Marketing Association Cleveland Chapter, he is a member of the American Advertising Federation, is a Certified Business Communicator (CBC), and recipient of two “Cleveland Rocks” awards from the Public Relations Society of America. 

REASON FOR JOINING:  It’s where Mark connects with people who really do understand the battles he faces every day.

REASON FOR VOLUNTEERING:  It's the only way to really get to know other members and build a network with career-minded people.  And who knew it would be so fun? 

FUN FACTS:  When he is not busy helping clients grow their businesses, he does as much yoga as he can.

JoAnn Luecke

JoAnn Luecke’s diverse background includes 23 years of customer service, event planning, direct sales, and administration.  JoAnn currently enjoys working with the team at Northern Ohio Printing.  She first served as Business Manager for seven years, then with her passion for customer service, she desired to work directly with clients on their print projects and soon become VP of Sales + Marketing.

REASON FOR JOINING & VOLUNTEERING:  I was introduced to AMA by another member.  She had heard I was in transition at NOP and told me that I must get involved in AMA.  I attended an event, met the board members and decided to join them!  I enjoy the networking and the duties included with being on the board.  If you are reading this, think about volunteering your time and your talent!

FUN FACTS:  She is married to her high school sweetheart and they have two very active children.  She enjoys cooking, reading, and working out.

Chris MacLaren
Treasurer

Chris MacLaren earned a Masters of Accountancy with a concentration in audit from Cleveland State University and a Bachelors of Arts in Economics from Wittenberg University.  He is a member of the American Institute and Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Chris is a manager at Skoda Minotti, a CPA, business and financial advisory firm in Mayfield Village.  His primary role at Skoda Minotti involves providing accounting and audit services for companies in the insurance, construction, and financial industries.  Prior to joining the firm in November 2004, he worked as an accountant for a non-profit organization for two years.

REASONS FOR JOINING & VOLUNTEERING:  It was a chance to get more involved in the community and for networking purposes.

FUN FACTS:  Chris likes to play golf and soccer.  He used to be in a small band and still loves to play guitar.  He studied for a semester in Scotland and had a chance to backpack throughout Europe...and can’t wait to get back.

Krystyl Patterson

Hospitality Director
 

Krystyl graduated from Kent State University with a bachelor’s degree in public relations and a minor in political science. She is currently an assistant account executive at Roop & Co., a strategically oriented communications agency focused on public relations, investor relations and graphic design. Her previous experience includes special event planning, internal communications and government relations. Prior to joining the firm, she worked for FedEx Custom Critical and Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.

Krystyl joined AMA in March of 2009 and volunteered right away on the sponsorship committee. Now as Hospitality Director, she looks forward to greeting you at the next event! 

REASON FOR JOINING:  In college, Krystyl held leadership roles in nonprofit and professional development organizations. She wanted to continue, and even expand, her involvement once she began her professional career.
REASON FOR VOLUNTEERING: Originally from Akron, she was eager to meet other professionals in the area. She volunteered hoping to meet new friends with the same interests.
 

FUN FACTS: In her free time, Krystyl enjoys going out with friends, working out and spending time with her family.

Jeff Staats
Sponsorship Director 

Jeff has been involved in marketing in the Cleveland area for over 10 years, since graduating from Baldwin-Wallace College.  He has worked in the brokerage, insurance, banking, and now, the telecommunications industry, currently as the Marketing Manager for Cox Communications.  He also earned an MBA in Marketing Management from John Carroll University in 2005 and has been actively using it while developing marketing strategy, direct marketing and loyalty programs in his current position.  Jeff became a member of AMA in 2008 and worked ‘behind the scenes’ in Sponsorship until becoming Director in July 2010.

REASON FOR JOINING:  The ‘new’ path to career development is all about networking to get a pulse on the local economic landscape, stay ahead of the curve on new marketing trends and expand my marketing knowledge.  I can’t think of another professional organization that does it better for marketing in Cleveland than AMA.

REASON FOR VOLUNTEERING:  It is extremely important to give back in any facet when you can.  I have had a pretty interesting marketing career and it was important for me to share my knowledge, pitfalls and wins with my colleagues.  This organization provides fantastic benefits to marketers from rookie to experienced so it’s important that I do what I can to keep it going. 

FUN FACTS:  Jeff is a professional photographer (SpinVista Photography) specializing in black and white and landscapes.  He also enjoys Notre Dame football, working out, golf, tennis and fighting crime.  He currently lives in University Heights with his wife, Bethany, and two sons (ages 2 and 3 mos).

Meghan Sullivan

Membership Recruitment DirectorMeghan has been a member of the Cleveland AMA since January 2008 and began her involvement as a volunteer on the Membership Committee.  She joined the Board of Directors in 2009 as Hospitality Director and enjoys meeting and greeting members and nonmembers at every event. Meghan studied sales and marketing at the University of Akron, earning undergraduate and graduate degrees in 2001 and 2003.  She has worked in marketing for six years and is currently employed by First American Title where she is busily focusing on marketing communications/campaign development, CRM implementation and a social media marketing plan. 

REASON FOR JOINING:  I joined AMA for the educational and networking opportunities, and it's more than paid off.  Many new ideas I've implemented at work came from one of our guest speakers or a conversation with another member.  The chapter is an endless source of ideas and resources.

REASON FOR VOLUNTEERING:  Volunteering with the chapter is the best way to make the most of your membership.  It offers opportunities to get to know other marketing professionals, develop leadership skills and the chance to work on projects that are different from your everyday job.

FUN FACTS:  Meghan is a huge music fan and also enjoys reading, traveling, spending time with friends and family and of course, the Cavs!  She also wants to take up tennis, if anyone knows a good instructor!
